Jem and the Holograms meet alot of characters throughout the 65 episodes of the cartoon
series. Most of the main characters were created by Hasbro, and usually it was Christy Marx's
job to introduce them in the cartoon. Christy also added her own creations, many of which became
regulars in the cartoon. And then there were hundreds of characters created for just quick appearances.
Since the Jem series is about a music group, we get to see alot of musicians of different kinds, but also other people of the entertainment business, media people and fans. We sometimes get an insight on the main characters' families and relatives. There's also alot of troublemakers on the way, many hired by Eric or the Misfits. And of course alot of other interesting characters with various roles and professions.

This guide covers pretty much all
of the characters of the entire Jem cartoon TV-series. Over 800 characters in total,
divided into 29 pages so far. It contains close-up pictures, descriptions,
what episodes they were in (or if all 65 episodes, what episodes are important)
for most characters. For some it also contains: name, trivia, where they live/work,
quotes, voice actors, who they were invented by,
if it was released as a doll, and where else they have appeared other than in the
cartoon (like Jem books).
Most of these characters aren't major characters. But atleast we get
to learn some funny things while we're at it. Like how much effort the model designers
put into creating each character, and and how consistant the animators could be about re-using
finished character designs. Even some of the very minor characters appear in later episodes
colored the exact same way. Some later appear as new characters though, even though you
can clearly see by their design that they're drawn from earlier character models.
The only writers who have actually managed to get her/his invented characters to
be used by another episode writer, are Christy Marx with lots of characters,
Mary Skrenes with Harriet Horn/Sean Harrison/Connie Long, Ellen Guon
(and Christy) with Xanthos, and Buzz Dixon with Flint Westwood. Any characters
that weren't created by Christy or Hasbro, weren't in the Jem bible, so that
means the writer who re-used another writer's character probably watched
it's episodes or were in contact with them.
As you might have noticed, all characters don't have names and can't be sorted alphabetically, and are instead sorted into a category, the one I judge as most fitting/interesting. Unsorted characters were put into "Background people" or "Other Workers" in the meanwhile. I've ignored some characters who: are not mentioned by name nor work, are only seen for a second or from behind, have no speaking lines, are only music video characters, or are actually holographic images. The picture quality is as good as it gets, as some of the characters didn't appear in close-ups. I can't guarantee that all the characters' names are spelt correctly. I've tried not to give alot of spoilers, by not providing info about the characters that is revealed at the end of the episodes. You'll have to watch the episodes to learn what happens. While working on these pages I discover more and more about each character and will continue to expand the information and re-locate some characters. Also, a bunch of more characters are coming up.

On top of all the cartoon characters, there were alot of characters created in the books
and comics stories. Here are those with names, and what their role was, and
what book/comic they are from. This section might get expanded with more content, and
hopefully also about new characters in the comics by IDW Publishing.
